Coffee having served in the war of 1812 although it is surely possible that he did. Our family lore simply calls him "Indian Fighter," and he did in fact fight in the two Indian wars with Andrew Jackson. When the DAR reinterred him in McRae in 1921 they confounded him with his more famous cousin and carved on the stone that he was a member ofAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
