Herschel Herndon and Vonnie E. Coffey Hoover

Herschel Herndon Hoover was born in Caldwell Co., NC on Jul. 12, 1893, a son of Henry Hill Durant and Alice Laura Raby Hoover. Herschel was married in 1913 to Vonnie E. Coffey, a daughter of Isaac Avery and Alice Cottrell Coffey in Caldwell Co. Vonnie died on Jan. 30, 1949 in Durham Co., NC. Herschel died in Jan., 1974 in Caldwell Co.

Vonnie had at least one sibling, a sister named Alda N. Coffey, born Aug., 1896. She married Jack T. Knight, but I have no further information on their descendants.

Herschel registered for the draft in Caldwell Co. on Jun. 5, 1917. He was described as being of medium height and build with blue eyes and dark colored hair. He was 23 yrs. old, married, and was a self-employed farmer in Lenoir, NC.
