Amanda Louise was the daughter of Wiley R. and Martha Simmons Mecimore, born May 11, 1888 in NC, died of the same cause as Charles on Nov. 22, 1967 in Hickory, Catawba Co.
It has been difficult determining the exact spelling of Amanda's maiden name. The Caldwell Co. birth index records the birth of an unnamed child [later determined to be Wiley Monroe] in 1918 to Amandy Louise Conlee and Charles Berton Coffey. In 1922 the index names the parents of the unnamed child [later determined to be James Grady] born that year as Amanda E. Misemore and Charles Burton Coffey. Her death certificate names her father as Wiley R. Mecimore. In the 1900 census, her family was enumerated as Messamore, and in 1910 the name was spelled Maisamme. On Charles' death certificate, his wife is reported as Amanda Misamore. Her maiden name is also spelled Misamore on the death certificate for her sons James Grady and Wiley Monroe.
Amanda and Charles had at least six children: Gertie M., born c1908; Ed F., born c1911, and Fred J., born c1913. These three were born in Tennessee. The fourth child was Bettie E. J., born c1916 in Virginia. Wiley Monroe, born Sep. 26, 1918 and James Grady, born Apr. 27, 1922, were born in Hudson, Caldwell Co. Wiley died in Caldwell Co. from pneumonia at the age of 2. James drowned in South Point Twp., Gaston Co., NC in 1941 at the age of 19 years.
Both Wiley and James are buried in the Sardis Cemetery at Hudson. Charles and Amanda are buried in Hickory, Catawba Co. in the First Baptist Church Cemetery. I have no information on the remainder of their children.
In 1910 Charles and his family were residents in Washington Co., TN and, in 1920 they were in Hudson,
