William Allen & Mary Wiseman Coffey Redux

An earlier blog about this family can be found at http://tinyurl.com/kcntfng. Additional photos of this family can also be viewed there.

Seth & Quillie Coffey
The eldest son of William and Mary was George W., born c1856 in Missouri.  I have not yet been able to find a marriage record for him but, did find the name of his spouse on the Texas death certificate for their son, Seth Leonard Coffey.  I have seen her name as Mary, Mary E. and Ellen. In Seth's death certificate she was named as Mary E. Winds.  It's an unusual surname* and one that I have not seen before. I lost George and Mary after the 1900 Howell Co., MO census.

There were at least four children born to the union of George and Mary Ellen, all in Toronto, Camden Co., MO.  They were:

Seth Leonard, born Feb. 21, 1890, never married, served in the US Army during World War I and died in Dallas, TX on May 21, 1972 and was buried at Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Dallas.

William Mattison "Will" Coffey, born Nov. 4, 1892, also served in the US Army during World War II and died Mar. 18, 1977 in Irving, Dallas Co., TX.  William married Nora May Chandler, born Jul. 29, 1893 in Thompson Falls, Sanders Co., MT to Frank and Laura Chandler.  She died in Irving on Jan. 28, 1978.  I have not found a marriage date for this couple.  Neither have I found a burial site for William; Nora is buried at Pleasant Mound.

The third child was Dora, born Nov., 1893.  I lost here as well after 1900.

The fourth and final child was Quillie Gertrude "Gertie" Coffey, born Sep. 2, 1899 and died Mar. 2, 1986 in Dallas.  She married Walter Jefferson Moorman, born in Cameron Co., TX on Jun. 17, 1897.  I have not found a death record for him.  Together they had at least four children:  A female stillborn on Nov. 16, 1924; Wanda, born c1927; Walter Jefferson, Jr., born c1930 and, Donald, born c1932, all in Dallas. Quille is also buried at Pleasant Mound.

Given the consistency of this family's burials at Pleasant Mound I would suspect that Quillie's spouse as well as her brother, William Mattison are also buried there.

The photos this family were provided to me by Jo ann Coffey Peeper, a descendant of Rufus, third son and fourth child of William and Mary. She is hoping that a descendant will recognize the photos and contact her. Please contact me to obtain her e-mail address.
