Dewey Coffey

Dewey, born Aug. 7, 1868 in Grainger Co., TN was a son of Thomas and Mahala Wise Coffey. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" McDaniel [probably the daughter of Rachel Meyers McDaniel, 1880 Claiborne Co., TN census] c1896. Elizabeth was born Mar. 23, 1878 in Claiborne Co. and died of tuberculosis in Wildie, Rockcastle Co., KY on Jul. 16, 1914.

Their Children were:

Henry U., born c1898 in TN

Della Mae, born c1901, also in TN. Della married John Wesley Bullins c1914 in Rockcastle Co. Their children were: Nancy E., born 1915; Joseph, born c1918; Goldie, born 1920; Virgil T., born 1922; and Nora, born 1925.

Silas F., born c1904 in TN

Etta L., born c1906 in Wayne Co., KY

Addie, born c1908 in KY

In c1917, Dewey married Eunice Ida Gadd, born c1894 in KY. They had a number of children, all born in Kentucky:

U?, a daughter, born c1918

Thomas J., born c1919

Mary, born c1921

Oscar, born c1922

Estil, born c1927. Estil's age in the 1930 census is difficult to read, but he appears to have been the same age as William, meaning they would be twins.

William Bluford, born 1927

James Edward, born 1930.

Dewey died of chronic myocarditis and stroke on Apr. 7, 1946 and was buried at Scaffold Cane in Roundstone, Rockcastle Co.
